Nigeria Premier Football League Side Heartland FC of Owerri have announced the signing of winger, Franklyn Maduabuchukwu Maduakor from Aeson FC.
Franklyn Maduabuchukwu Maduakor signed a One year contract with the Club.
” ’ new home is Owerri. Welcome our New Number ,” reads a message on the club’s official Facebook page
The player is vastly experienced, having played for some of the best clubs in the Nigeria.
The pacy winger also once had a stint in Armenia. He is expected to make his debut for Heartland in their next game

The board of Nigeria National League has announced the postponement of the kick off date of the 2023/2024 league season to a yet to be announced date.
The league originally planned to kick off on Saturday 28 October but has been compelled according to now postponed the commencement to enable clubs conclude registration for the new season.
The NNL board in arriving at the decision took into cognizance the inability of teams to meet up with the Wednesday 25, October registration deadline because of the economic situation facing the country.
Chairman of the NNL board George Aluo speaking to NNL media said ” We regret to announce that the 2023/2024 league season originally planned to kick off this Saturday at the Uyo Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom state has been postponed to a new date which will be communicated to teams once clubs finish formalization of registration process”
The Chairman hinted further that with the latest development, clubs are now advised to ensure they conclude their registration on November 3, 2023 ,noting that once registration is concluded, the board of NNL will announce a new date for the commencement of the league.
He declared that the teams however, have been warned that failure to meet up with the new registration date means non participation in the league. Top of Form

The board of Nigeria National League (NNL) has honoured some distinguished and sports loving Nigerians for their support for the just concluded coaches seminar held in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Those honoured are: The President of Remo Stars, Hon Kunle Soname, the Director General of the National Institute For Sports, (NIS) Prof Olawale Moronkola, Chief Executive Officer of first Sports Radio Station in the Country, Brila FM, Dr.Larry Izamoje, Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited, Ebi Egbe and Managing Director of Zenith Sports, Paul Maduakor.
Speaking while presenting the awards to the recipients during the closing ceremony of the seminar, Chairman of NNL, George Aluo said they were singled out for recognition because of their support for the NNL in particular and football development in general.
“The NNL board decided to honour them because they are partners in progress and their support made the seminar see the light of the day.
“We did not only single them out because of their support for the present NNL board since it was inaugurated a few months ago but for their unrelenting support for sports development in the country and we look forward to more partnership with them,” Aluo said.
Speaking on the award, Chairman of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited, Ebi Egbe while thanking NNL for the honour, said it would spur his Group to do more for Nigerian sports noting that he was the one that constructed the Remo Stadium turf where the seminar took place.
“I am highly excited with the honour done to me and others by the NNL. This shows that what we are doing is being recognized and appreciated by sports loving Nigerians and it will spur my Group to do more for the development of Nigerian sports.
“You are all aware that it was my company that constructed the Remo Stadium where the seminar took place and we will not fail to deliver whenever we are called upon to do so,” he concluded.

Coaches who participated in the just concluded Nigeria National League (NNL) refresher course are still counting their blessings for being part of the course even as they have commended the board of the second tier league led by George Aluo for their foresight in repositioning the league through training and retraining of coaches.
NNL in conjunction with the National Institute For Sports (NIS) organised a three day refresher course for all the 40 club coaches in the league aimed at upgrading them in modern football coaching techniques.
In separate interviews during the seminar coaches of El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Aliu Zubair, Adamawa United, Usman Adams and that of Stationery Stores of Lagos, Bob Osim all agreed that they learnt a lot from the course anchored by eminent resource persons including; Technical Director of NFF, Austin Eguavoen, former Super Eagles players; Peter Rufai and Clement Temile, NIS lecturer, Kuhwa Iorsue Jeremiah and UEFA licensed coach, Portuguese Thiago Conde noting that the impact of what they were taught will be seen when the 2023/2024 league season kicks off on October, 28
According to them George Aluo led board of NNL deserves commendation for the initiative which is the first in the history of the second tier league just as they expressed hope that it will be sustained.
” We must commend the NNL board led by George Aluo for coming up with this wonderful idea of preparing coaches adequately before the commencement of the league which is the first of it’s kind in the history of the NNL.
“For us, this is a new dawn and it has not happened before in the history of the NNL. It takes the courage of a visionary leader to organise this type of seminar which has enriched the coache’s knowledge as they prepare for the new season.
” It is also important to state that we learnt a lot from the resource persons and hopefully we are going to impact the knowledge to our players which will lead to a better league”, they chorused.
The coaches were of the opinion that with regular seminars, the country’s football will improve greatly even as they charged other leagues to emulate the NNL and organize refresher courses for their coaches.

Three more teams on Thursday 10, August 2023 joined Sokoto United to keep their status in the Nigeria National League (NNL) at the end of the Relegation Play off in Kano.
Adamawa United claimed the second ticket from the Northern Conference after piping Sokoto United 1-0 to garner five points from a possible nine, Sokoto before the last games clinched the first ticket after two games with six points.
The match day three was played at the Mahaha Sports complex in Kofar Mata.
FWC Champions defeated ABS FC of Ilorin 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium, to earn four points ,leaving ABS to finish the Play off with 1point only.
In the Southern Conference, Ikorodu City and Smart City all of Lagos kept their status intact.
Smart City humbled Henserd 2-1 to gain 6points in a last game decided at the Mahaha Stadium while Ikorodu City drew 1-1 with Edel FC to finish on same 4points but scaled through on a superior plus two goals difference.
Edel FC ended in 3rd place while the efforts from Henserd left them bottom of the log .

3. Ikorodu City 1-1 Edel FC

Prior to his appointment on Friday 7 July, 2023 by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to be the business and public face of the nation’s second tier league, the Nigeria National League (NNL), Mr. Emmanuel Danjuma Attah, was already a renowned figure, in Nigeria’s football ecosystem; having served as Coordinator of the men’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, from 2007-2015.
Aside being a fellow of the Institute of Business Administration and Knowledge Management (FIBAKM), Mr. Attah is also a member Nigeria Army Resource Centre (NARC); and is currently the Chief Executive of Kendanjuta Enterprises, an Abuja-based company he founded.
Simply put, he is well equipped with the right tools, and in all ramifications to horn more of his entrepreneurial skills, with a view to marketing the most important league in Nigeria, to new and more lofty climes.
Mr. Attah, who arguably is one of the best Chairmen, the FCT Football Association has had; takes over from Barrister Sajo Mohammed. Hon.Bukola Olopade was the CEO who came before Barrister Sajo Mohammed.
Mr. Emmanuel Attah hails from Okpokwu, in Benue State, North Central-Nigeria; and has built a reputation as a strategic planner, who understands clearly the task he is called to accomplish as the CEO of the NNL – the most important league.
His chequred background in football administration, which started when he was Club Secretary of the now defunct NYSC Strikers FC of Abuja; before he rose to become the Team Manager and Chairman. The wealth of experience acquired along the way, are tremendous, huge and compelling.
The 60-years-old, who will be 61 in August 2023 has excelled as creative and innovative figure, judging from the key positions he has held previously, and his achievements.
His growth mindset, tallies with the task ahead of him, that’s championing the sale of NNL as a product, and gaining the buy-in of the corporate world.
From 2021 to 2022 Mr. Attah was the Director General, in-charge of Services Department of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC); supervising and coordinating utility services, transport administration and stores management.
He holds an MSC in Rural Development from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and Bachelor of Arts BA (Hons) in Geography.
His venture into football saw him become the Chairman, FCT Football Association, from 2005 -2011; and some of his glorious achievements are still subsisting, till date.
He also served as a coordinator of the Super Eagles; Camp Commandant of the nation’s Under 17 men’s team and the 23 team (Olympics Eagles); and in various committees of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Mr .Emmanuel Attah attended four FIFA World Cup competitions in 2010, 2014, 2018 and Qatar 2022; either working as a member of the backroom staff of the Super Eagles, or in other relevant capacities, to broaden his perspective and horizon as a top football administrator.
