NNL24: Unbeaten In 7 Matches; Madiba Continue Good Run As They Defeat Smart City In Lagos.

Madiba FC managed to take all three points to continue their good run of form as the Nigeria National League (NNL) resumes after the Yuletide break.

Smart City were playing at home, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, same home ground of Madiba FC, but failed to get a point, despite going ahead in the 7th minute, through a fantastic goal from Chukwudi Ekeocha.

At the stroke of halftime, Fasina Samson of Madiba FC answered the call, scoring an equalizer at the 45th minute.

As the second half commenced, Adaralegbe Temitope of Madiba FC seized an opportunity with a stunning goal from a free kick at the 61st minute. However, Chukwudi Ekeocha of Smart City FC swiftly responded with his second of the game , leveling the score again at 76th minutes.

In a strategic move, Solomon Bala, the head coach of Madiba FC, made key substitutions, introducing Aliu Solomon, Fadeyi Sunday, Isah Mohammed, and Anthony Ndubuisi to fortify the team’s front line.

The gamble paid off as Anthony Ndubuisi secured the victory for Madiba FC with a decisive header at the 90th minute, solidifying a 3-2 triumph.

NNL24| Week 6 Review; Match Results And Major Talking Points

The Nigeria National League (NNL) week 6 saw some surprising results, alongside some high octane flow of football.

From Gateway FC losing 1-0 at home to bottom placed FC One Rocket, to Giant Brillars snatching a rare win at Warri Wolves home. It wasn’t a different story at the Giginya Memorial Stadium, where Sokoto United handed Sporting Supreme their first defeat of the season.

Coal City also won away from home. It was indeed an entertaining weekend in the NNL.

In Conference A, Madiba FC maintained their great run of form, beating 1472 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, by three goals to two, their fifth win of the season.

At the Remo Stars Stadium, Remo, The Abeokuta Stormers lost at home to another struggling team, Abia Comets, by 3-2, despite leading 2-1 by half time.

Smart City, Dakkada FC and Rovers also recorded home wins in Conference A, beating Beyond Limits, Ekiti United and Vandrezzer respectively.

Two away wins were recorded in Conference B, FC One Rocket, Giant Brillars traveled to Ogun and Delta State respectively to pick maximum points, while Osun United won Ijebu United at the Osogbo City Stadium.

Tradesafe FC and Ikorodu City will battle at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena tomorrow, while Solution FC and Crown FC will settle their scores in Awka.

In Conference C, Mighty Jets, Yobe Desert Warriors and Wikki Tourist all won at home, beating the trio of Zamfara United, NAF and Nasarawa United respectively.

The last game of the group this year, will see Elkanemi Warriors and ABS battle for Supremacy at the El-Kanemi Stadium, Borno.

Sporting Supreme lost their first game of the season, to Sokoto United, while City F.C were one goal better than Malumfashi F.C, Adamawa United and Mailantarki FC played out a goalless draw. Jigawa Golden Stars and Kebbi United will play tomorrow.

NFF hammer falls on two referees as NNL insists on continuous monitoring of their activities

The NFF Referees Development Committee has ordered the immediate stepping down of two more referees from the Nigeria National League.

This according to a circular from the Committee is in view of the outcome of matches and other misconducts exhibited by the concernedofficials in Match Day 3 involving Ikorodu City and FC One Rocket.

The affected referees are Centre Referee Ajibola Kassem from Ogun State and his Assistant Referee 1 Akinade Saburi from Oyo State.In the notification signed from the Unit, the stepping down from the league was with immediate effect until further notice.It would be recalled that the Committee had earlier stepped down four referees that handed some matches in the Match Day 1 and 2 in November.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Operating Officer of the League Dr.Ayo Abdulrahaman said the League body will continue to monitor the activities of referees in league matches to ensure that the officiating is in line with the laws of the game.

NNL24: Lagos Derby Ends In Draw As Jimoh Oni And Farouk Salami Score.

Ikorodu City came from behind to level up against Inter Lagos as both sides, shared point in the Lagos Derby played on Saturday, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.

Inter Lagos took the lead in the 25th minute, through striker Jimoh Oni, who wasted no time in converting for the ‘Pride of Lagos..

Minutes later, Taheer Abubakar had a golden chance to extend Inter Lagos lead, but failed to capitalise on the chance.

The second half started with a lot of pressure coming from the ‘Oga’ boys. Amidst the intense and cutthroat from Ikorodu City, they got an equaliser in the 64th minute, through Farouk Salami, who striked from a distance to make it 1-1.

Ikorodu City now have four points from three games played so far, while Inter Lagos had their first point of the season after today’s game.

NNL24: 1472 Beat Ekiti United To Reclaim Top Spot In Conference A.

1472 FC of Lagos scored three second half goals at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena to defeat visiting Ekiti United on Friday evening.

The first half ended 1-0, courtesy of a superb header scored by Solomon Alade, other goals were scored by Chika Odom and Solomon Emmanuel.

The ‘Tingo’ boys dominated from the start and took the lead minutes after through in form Solomon Alade.

1472 move back to the top of NNL Conference A table with 8 points from 4 matches, leading Madiba with a point, pending on the time other Matchday four games will be played.

NNL Sympathizes With FC ONE Rocket Over Robbery Attack

The board of the Nigeria National League (NNL) has offered it’s sympathy to the players, coaches and management of FC ONE Rocket of Uyo over the armed robbery attack they suffered on their way to Uyo, from Lagos after honoring match day three with Ikorodu City Football Club of Lagos, at the MJ Arena in the ongoing 2023/2024 NNL season.

Eighteen players and seven officials of the club including the Chief coach Ndubuisi Ndah were reportedly attacked by armed bandits at Ihiala, Anambra state, South East Nigeria.

According to reports three armed robbers on motorbike suddenly came out from nowhere and asked the Bus driver to stop the vehicle.

They sorrounded the passengers and commanded them each to drop their phones, monies and other valuables.

The three robbers sped off immediately after collecting all they wanted from the players and coaches.

In a letter offering sympathy to FC ONE Rocket, the Chief Operating Officer of NNL, Dr.Ayo Abdulrahaman while thanking God that no player or official was hurt and that no life was lost stared…”It is a temporary set back, we hope this will not deter you from positively moving forward in your bit to do well in your remaining matches.”

“We identify with you on the unfortunate incident, please put it behind. We continue to pray for you for a hitch free season and may the good Lord keep protecting us.”

FC ONE Rocket is one of the privately owned clubs in the NNL. They lost the away tie to Ikorodu City by two goals to nil.
