ABS Ilorin FC Captain Timothy Boniface Exudes Confidence Ahead of NNL Second Round

Ahead of resumption of the second stanza of the Nigeria National League (NNL) captain of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (Ilorin) Football Club, Timothy Boniface has expressed optimism of an improved performance.

The team is gearing up to face Gateway United at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode this weekend and Timothy Boniface believes they would kickoff their quest for a Super Eight finish with a win on Saturday.

“This second round we are putting up our best and hope that everything will go well for us,” Captain Boniface said in an interview with ABS Ilorin media after Thursday’s training.

“It wasn’t an easy task for us in the first round due to some little mistakes. We want to correct the mistake this second round.” He affirmed.

Boniface expressed his trust in God and the team’s ability to deliver a better performance in the second stanza. “We believe and trust that God will see us through the second round. We are also believing in ourselves because we are giving our best to make sure that this second round will favor us.”

Boniface revealed that he has spoken to the players, and everyone is committed to giving their best. “If we gave 70 percent in the first round, this second round we want to give 120. Because we don’t want to get relegated this time around. We want to compete for the Super 8.”

Boniface also praised the new players who have joined the team, saying they are better than those who left. “The new players that have joined are good, they are better than those that left, they are ready to put in their best. And if we join our hands together, we’re going to bring up the best for the team.”

Currently, ABS Ilorin FC sits in seventh position, but Captain Boniface is hopeful that they will end the second round in first or second place. “Looking at the position we are in now, we are in seventh position now before end of this second round, we believe and trust God that we are going to end first or second with our best. We trust ourselves that we are going to give our best for the second and make it to super Eight.” He concluded.

ABS Ilorin FC will depart for Ijebu Ode on Friday ahead of Saturday’s clash against Gateway United.
